Folklorist
Carrie earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees in the study of Folklore from Indiana University and remains an active member of the American Folklore Society. Ethnographic fieldwork, as the practice of deep listening and holistic observation—of bearing witness to the expressive lives of others, remains her most important methodology, and she has collaborated with communities in the United States, Southwest China, Scandinavia, and Sápmi to amplify their voices, arts, experiences, and agendas through publications, exhibitions, and public programs.
